ABOUT OUR TRAINERS
Meet The OLK9 Team!
Evan Carson
Evan Carson is the President and Founder of the Salt Lake City and Northern Utah Off Leash K9 Training locations. He also owns the Lehigh Valley, Scranton, and Bucks County, PA locations, and is a trainer with Off Leash K9 Training. Evan started as a client in 2010 with his Dogo Argentino, Capone. He has always had a profound love of dogs, and has never lived without them. He loved training and working with his own dogs, and had no problem doing so until Capone.
Capone had some pretty serious reactivity issues with other dogs, which led Evan to find Off Leash K9 Training and Nick White in 2011. Three weeks into private lessons Capone was off leash, healing him in complete control around and past other dogs. From there he completed the basic program and then started advanced training with Capone and then started with his Springer Spaniel, Penny Lane. He was hooked! The rest is history, as they say.
OLK9 literally “changed his life”. From that point on, Evan knew he wanted to work with dogs as a career. Over the next six years Evan worked tirelessly to achieve that goal and in May of 2017 his dream became a reality when he opened the Lehigh Valley OLK9 location in Allentown Pennsylvania. The Lehigh Valley location quickly expanded from one trainer to three by the end of their first year and in September he opened the Scranton location in PA. Since then Evan has grown the Lehigh Valley location as one of the most well-known, highest rated and most reviewed dog training companies in the state. Earlier last year, Evan opened up a new facility for his Scranton location in Peckville/Blakley Borough. His PA locations now employs six full time trainers, is still growing, and is currently hiring.
Evan took over the Salt Lake City and Northern Utah OLK9 locations in August of 2018. Later that year he opened the first OLK9 facility in Northern Utah in North Salt Lake and has plans to grow those locations as he has done in PA. Utah OLK9 currently employs two full time trainers.
During his downtime, Evan enjoys spending time with his family, including his wife and two daughters, and his two dogs, a 2-year-old German Shepherd, Arya, and Lucy, a Bulldog/Rat Terrier/ Staffordshire Terrier mix. He also enjoys being outdoors, hiking, personal defense training, dog training seminars, and working with Arya and Lucy to fine tune their obedience.
Karsyn GARRETT - Trainer
Karsyn has always had a love of animals. She grew up handling & caring for many different animals including dogs (of course), llamas, goats, horses & the list goes on. She loved them all, but it was never a secret that dogs were her favorite.
Karsyn worked as an Advanced EMT for years, and when she had time, she enjoyed training & working with her own dogs, as well as dog sitting for her family, friends & co-workers, but what started as a hobby, quickly turned into more. After helping her roommate rehabilitate a 2-year-old pitbull named Beau, Karsyn quickly realized training dogs was her undeniable life’s passion. Beau had been mistreated in his previous home. The result was severe separation anxiety & fear-based aggression issues. There were a lot of long days and unanswered questions, but as time went on and training became more natural, Beau started to show tremendous improvement. There was nothing more rewarding to Karsyn than seeing the change in Beau’s confidence & improved relationship between him and his human. This experience led her to rescue one of her own dogs, Blue, from a shelter in August 2021. She has been training, socializing & building his confidence ever since.
Karsyn has a very special place in her heart for shelter/rescue dogs. She wants to do whatever she can to help prevent the surrender of dogs to shelters and training is an amazing way to do that!
Karsyn is a firm believer in a relationship-based perspective to create a solid foundation of trust between a dog & its human. She believes many dogs and owners alike, are misunderstood and she is here to help in any way possible!
Karsyn lives in the Salt Lake valley with her husband & their two dog babies. They have a Border Collie/Lab mix named Missy & a German Shepherd/Aussie mix named Blue. During her downtime, Karsyn enjoys playing piano, cooking & outdoor activities with her dogs such as going to the dog park, camping & paddleboarding.
Ashley jordan - Trainer
Ashley has always had a passion for working with animals. Growing up, she worked with dogs and various farm animals. Her love for animals began at a very young age when she started working with her family’s rescued Border Collie at the age of 5. She was set on the vet route for many years, studying and preparing to help animals in the medical aspect of their lives. However, after doing an internship for a couple of months, she realized that she wasn’t where she wanted to be. That’s when she turned to working with animal behavior and found her love for training.
Ashley is currently in school studying psychology, which helps her understand the science behind the way dogs learn and why they may act the way they do. This knowledge helps her immensely with training because she can look at things from the dogs’ perspective and help them from there.
When she is with her family’s pets, she loves finding ways to mentally stimulate them by teaching them fun tricks or games. She also enjoys helping them figure out things like obstacle courses and finding fun places for them to explore.
In her free time, when Ashley isn’t working with dogs, you can find her with her friends or out dancing somewhere. Ashley also likes to be outside, either hiking or finding a pond to swim in. In addition to that, she enjoys biking and often goes long boarding. On rainy days, she likes to spend her time indoors doing puzzles or baking something sweet.
LEVI GARRETT - Trainer
I’ve been a dog lover my whole life. Growing up in a military household, my dad always told us that we couldn’t have any pets. However, when he retired, we finally welcomed a Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso mix into our home. I took it upon myself to train her, and it was a rewarding experience.
